What is a ProLiant Storage Server?
HP uses the ProLiant Storage Server product name to describe our
enhanced Windows-powered file and print server solutions for small
or medium business, branch office, workgroup, or data center IT
environments. These network storage devices are built on
industry-standard HP ProLiant servers and come with either
Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 or Windows Unified Data
Storage Server 2003 operating system pre-installed. Like any
Network Attached Storage (NAS) device, they are pre-configured and
install in minutes. And since they`re Windows-based, network
integration is easy and management has a familiar look and feel. So
you can add storage to your network quickly and spend less time on
storage management, then get back to what matters most-your
business.

The HP ProLiant DL160 G5 Storage Server is a fast and easy way to

network. The Microsoft Windows-powered operating system is
pre-installed and internal storage is pre-configured, so you`re up
and serving files in minutes. It supports multiple file sharing
protocols, so you can consolidate and make a single centralized
platform to manage and protect, or you can create a scalable
disk-based backup/replication target.
Once your solution is installed, you`ll find that you spend less
time and effort on file management and maintenance. You can manage
and troubleshoot from outside the office with either remote desktop
or Lights-Out 100i remote management. Since it`s running Windows,
it integrates seamlessly into your Active Directory and DFS
environments, runs your favorite antivirus and backup software, and
has a familiar management look and feel. And don`t forget that you
can use a DL160 G5 Storage Server as a print server, too.
All DL160 G5 Storage Servers are built on industry standards and
include features that protect and optimize your investment. They
pack all the performance and flexibility you need into only 1U of
rack space, with quad-core processing and both SATA and SAS drive
support. The operating system offers intelligent tools like
Single-instance Storage (which de-duplicates file storage to save
disk space) and supports the optional Microsoft iSCSI Software
Target so you can add block-based Exchange, SQL or other
application storage capability to your network storage
solution.
